Dialogue Focuses on Managing Complexity of Running a Successful Technology Professional Services Organization
SAN DIEGO, Dec. 20, 2006 – The Technology Professional Services Association (TPSA), the technology professional services industry’s premier organization, recently concluded its semi-annual TPSA Summit. Held in November in Washington, D.C., the fall Summit, themed “Aligning Professional Services,” presented content designed to help executives achieve total alignment between overall corporate strategy and the professional services strategy.
“The business of running a professional services organization is increasingly complex, and through this year’s Summit presentations, discussion sessions and informal peer-to-peer conversations, we stimulated solid dialogue on how to manage this complexity by achieving total alignment within a technology company, including keeping the focus on the needs of the customer,” said Thomas Lah, TPSA Executive Director.
Michael Cusumano, Sloan Management Review Distinguished Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Sloan School of Management, delivered the closing keynote presentation, “Managing the Product/Service Mix for Long-Term Success -- Which is the Better Business Model, in Software and Other Industries.”
In addition to Lah and Cusumano, the TPSA Summit was highlighted by keynote speakers from the world’s leading technology companies including Gary Moore, senior vice president, advanced services, Cisco Systems; Thomas P. Roloff, vice president and chief technology officer, technology solutions, EMC Corporation; and Jeff Boyce, vice president of service delivery, HP Software.
"I can't praise enough the value of meeting peers who experience the same challenges as you face, and being able to devise successful strategies to address them, very openly. The TPSA Summit served as a goldmine of learning opportunities and delivered a wealth of business wisdom for PS executives," said Jean Pommier, vice president of Worldwide Professional Services, ILOG.
“The TPSA Summit offered an invaluable mix of information on PS business trends and insights from our peers,” said Bob Boehnlein, senior vice president, Aprimo Global Services “As a whole, the information presented raised the bar on what to expect from the industry moving forward,” he added.
