Declining service economic environment demands a breakthrough in service business models.
SANTA CLARA, May 7, 2009, TECHNOLOGY SERVICES WORLD – Senior technology service executives were handed an historic challenge from J.B. Wood, president of AFSMI, SSPA, and TPSA, that current service business models—including maintenance—are at severe risk, and that new service business models and new service value propositions are urgently needed to replace them.
“This is a watershed moment for technology services, with the current pressures on the economy and the ensuing financial models,” Wood said. “We’ve ridden the current technology service business model as far as it can go. It is time to embrace service as a way to add value to customers, not just as a way to establish and maintain availability. That’s what today’s customers want, and are willing to pay for.”
Wood then laid out five specific initiatives that every technology company needs to be investing in to preserve service revenue and to break through to new levels of technology adoption.
AFSMI, SSPA and TPSA are the three leading associations in the technology services industry. Technology Services World, co-hosted by the three associations, is renowned as the preeminent source of learning and peer networking in the services industry.
