Ruth Fornell is vice president of professional services for NCR Corporation.  She is responsible for software, software maintenance and consulting services delivered by nearly 2,000 consultants worldwide.  Prior to being appointed to her current position in January 2008, Fornell was vice president of financial self-service for Europe.  She successfully grew this business to exceed $1 billion. 

Previously Fornell was the vice president and general manager of NCR's Payment and Imaging Solutions organization that provides image-based services, such as check-image processing, to the finance and retail industries worldwide.

Fornell also previously held the position of chief marketing officer for Teradata, a division of NCR, based in Dayton, Ohio.  Under her leadership, the division introduced its new brand that was designed to position Teradata to achieve its aggressive growth goals.

Before joining Teradata in April 1999, Fornell served as executive assistant to NCR Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Lars Nyberg.  She was responsible for supporting the CEO in a variety of functions, including strategy development and communication.

Fornell started her NCR career in 1985 in U.S. pricing and financial services.  Since then, she has held a variety of roles with increasing responsibility, primarily in marketing and strategic planning.  Her experience spans sales and an international assignment where she was responsible for worldwide marketing programs for financial products and systems marketing, based in Dundee, Scotland.  Fornell also served as the director of strategy for the company’s data warehousing business.

Fornell was co-director of the Teradata Center for Customer Relationship Management at Duke University and was a member of the board of trustees for the Marketing Science Institute.  She also served on the board of trustees for the Dayton Entrepreneur’s Center.

Fornell holds a master of science degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin
